mystic turtle Posted May 13, 2009 at 04:29 PM Report Posted May 13, 2009 at 04:29 PM Hi, I am planning a trip to China sometime next year. I want to immerse myself in Mandarin. I would like to do so at a school with a well respected Chinese Medicine program so I can also continue studies in that. I would appreciate any info on schools in Beijing and Northern China or anywhere Mandarin is spoken. Quote
woliveri Posted May 14, 2009 at 01:50 PM Report Posted May 14, 2009 at 01:50 PM There are plenty of schools around. Personally, I know there's one in Shanghai and Hangzhou. I'm sure there's one in Beijing as well. Be aware that Chinese Medical Schools (TCM) are 4 to 5 years long and are very heavy on Western theory and subjects. Most Chinese are moving towards Western Medicine rather than Traditional Chinese Medicine I've found. Good luck Quote
mystic turtle Posted May 21, 2009 at 11:38 PM Author Report Posted May 21, 2009 at 11:38 PM Thanks for the reply. The title of my thread was changed so it is less clear. I am an acupuncturist/ chinese herbalist and have already been through a four year program. I took some Mandarin but would now like to immerse myself. I feel to truly understand the medicine Mandarin is essential. So...It would be great if I could learn Mandarin in an environment where I could learn more about the medicine. I am open to volunteering or teaching english also provided I could learn Mandarin or Medicine in exchange. Quote
