Knives Posted May 14, 2009 at 01:24 AM Report Posted May 14, 2009 at 01:24 AM Hi, I need advice on buying an electronic translator. There is a crazy ammount of them on the market but to be honest I don't need anything fancy (ie. talking,scanning...) but what I do need is something that works the same was as NJ Star Chinese WP (pinyin to english and characters) which I assume most of you are familiar with. I will be really grateful for any advice. I have found a similar topic/request as mine but It was dated 2007 so I can take a wild guess that maybe someone has something new to say... Regards Quote
flameproof Posted May 14, 2009 at 04:50 AM Report Posted May 14, 2009 at 04:50 AM I still love Pleco and wouldn't use anything else. Not the cheapest, but suits my needs 98% (I took out 2% to encourage them to develop a Wubi trainer, or do at least a Wubi keyboard) Quote

flameproof Posted May 14, 2009 at 02:03 PM Report Posted May 14, 2009 at 02:03 PM I used it first on my h1940 PDA and now on my HTC Diamond phone. Quote

flameproof Posted May 15, 2009 at 01:10 AM Report Posted May 15, 2009 at 01:10 AM ok, right, but now we are getting into preferences and tastes.... If I would have to buy a PDA again I would still buy the H1910 or H1940, because it's quite thin and fits my shirt pocket. Has no phone function though. Can be bought 2nd hand for less then $100 I guess. I see them all the time in the 2nd hand gadget shops in HK. But now I prefer my HTC Touch Diamond. It's even smaller, thinner and it's a phone. But there is one thing I don't like - the screen is of course smaller, still workable though. If your budget is tight, Pleco still runs well on older PDA which you can buy 2nd hand. I can't see a speed difference between the H19*0 (I forgot which one I have, they are almost identical) from 2003 and the HTC. Quote
Knives Posted May 15, 2009 at 02:40 AM Author Report Posted May 15, 2009 at 02:40 AM don't really want a phone to be honest. just a translator, and a gps woudl be useful.. also small, light and thin. Quote
flameproof Posted May 15, 2009 at 06:37 AM Report Posted May 15, 2009 at 06:37 AM H1910 can load iGo GPS software. There are no maps for China though. Plus you need an external bluetooth GPS mouse. Quote
