Take some common or unrelated things to make them imply some good wishes. Foreigners might not understand what it says, but it is easy to explain in an example. For example, bats symbolize good fortune in traditional Chinese customs, for 蝠(bat) and 福(good fortune) in Chinese are homophonic.
