Is it easier to score a hsk level 3 on basic or intermediate?

i grew up speaking mandarin with my family but have very limited reading ability... would it be easier to take the intermediate and score level 3 competency or the basic?

The basic one, since you do not have loads of difficult vocabulary cropping up which can take time away from solving the questions. Additionally, the listening section has one section where everything is repeated twice.

As for the listening portion... do you need to be able to read the answers or are the answers read aloud?
