jacki Posted May 17, 2009 at 05:12 AM Report Posted May 17, 2009 at 05:12 AM Alrighty, putting on my nerd glasses, here, but: Can you access foreign WoW servers from China? I know the game is huge there, but can you get to US or Australian servers from China? It wouldn't be the biggest disaster in the world to have to learn to play in Chinese, but... I would love to be able to play on my regular servers Quote

imron Posted May 17, 2009 at 06:22 AM Report Posted May 17, 2009 at 06:22 AM WoW's current Chinese operator (The9) also recently lost the operating rights to the game, and starting from early June it will be operated by Netease. If you're going to play on Chinese servers it'd be best to wait until the changeover happens as at the moment there's a great deal of uncertainty as to what will happen with player data and game-time credits. The Chinese version of WoW has also been modified to meet the requirements of China's censors with regards to certain content and to tone down the "horror" element, e.g. skeleton characters have been given flesh, bones of dead characters have been replaced by graves etc. The latest expansion pack Wrath of the Lich King has also not yet been approved by China's censors. I don't actually play the game myself, but have been following the general game industry in China. Quote
