I have seen some websites and books where it isn't, and others where it is, plus I asked my old (as in former, not Jurassic) Chinese teacher, and she said that it was. But... hard-headed me, I still have my doubts as to whether this is a rule. She said only at the beginning of sentences, but it just looks weird???

What do others say?

Proper names are capitalised.

For example: Běijīng, Héběi, Jiāng Zémín...

I don't know what the exact and complete rules are, but I assume that it's similar to European languages.

Days and months are not capitalised, unlike English.
