studentyoung Posted May 26, 2009 at 02:00 AM Report Posted May 26, 2009 at 02:00 AM (edited) can someone please help me translate this calligraphy? i was given it as a gift a few years ago and have no idea what it says! 寿(the biggest character on the left): long life the couplets (on the right) : 福如东海长流水 Good fortune as the running water in the East Sea 寿比南山不老松 Long life as the evergreen pine on the South Mountain 龟寿千年: Long life like a tortoise a-thousand-year-old XX联画: XX (Someone’s name, perhaps, but I can’t see the characters very clear) wrote the couplets and pained (the bats, which are on the right of the paper, and means good fortune in traditional Chinese customs) 甲申年秋月:in autumn, 2005(I guess you got it in or after 2005) You got it as a gift on your birthday, I suppose?
