xiexieniii Posted June 2, 2009 at 12:30 AM Report Posted June 2, 2009 at 12:30 AM According to Google maps it seems that a subway line to the Haidian is currently under construction. There is a class at the University for International Relations/Center for International Education I'm interested in taking, and I will be commuting from Tian Tong Yuan, somewhere north of the city. roddy Posted June 2, 2009 at 12:52 AM Report Posted June 2, 2009 at 12:52 AM Haidian's got good public transport, but at the moment that commute would be a bit of a hassle. UIR is out by the Summer Palace, so I guess you're looking at Tiantongyuan - Lishuiqiao - Wudaokou and then a bus heading to the Summer Palace. Two subways and a bus, not great. Or two buses - 432 then the 特5 or some other combination - see Bjbus. Even when line 4 comes in, you're looking at changing twice to make that journey by subway. It's not an impossible commute, but it's a good reason to either study elsewhere, or move. Quote
jeffofarabia Posted June 2, 2009 at 10:31 AM Report Posted June 2, 2009 at 10:31 AM I used to live out that way. There is a subway stop in Shangdi and one in Wudaoko. Buses run everywhere. I found the subway much faster though. Quote
xiexieniii Posted June 4, 2009 at 05:50 AM Author Report Posted June 4, 2009 at 05:50 AM Thanks. Given the description of the commute, I think I will go to this other school in the Chaoyang business district that looked okay -- Chinese Language Education (www.chinaledu.com). It seems to be only one train ride away from Tian Tong Yuan. Is that correct? Quote
jeffofarabia Posted June 4, 2009 at 06:39 AM Report Posted June 4, 2009 at 06:39 AM I loved taking the buses in China. Good way to meet people. Quote
roddy Posted June 4, 2009 at 06:53 AM Report Posted June 4, 2009 at 06:53 AM The Jianwai Soho location? That would be Guomao, you'd still need to change to Line 1 at Dongdan or Line 10 at Beitucheng Donglu, but when you come out at Guomao you should be pretty much at the door. Quote
yonglin Posted June 4, 2009 at 10:57 PM Report Posted June 4, 2009 at 10:57 PM The school for language students at UIR is separate from the actual university and is right south of 林业大学, which has quite a lot of bus connections (and an affordable cafeteria). The walk from the school to Wudaokou station is 10-15 mins. Quote
