This is what I have been able to piece together for my son. His name is Liam. (pronounced leeum)

Is that on track? Is the meaning ok? Thanks in advance for your help!

It is a transliteration. There is no meaning in the combination of the three characters.

Just remember as well that if you get this tattooed as written, it's basically using the equivalent font of "Times New Roman" in English.

It sounds like li a mu. It means nothing. If I were to translate Liam, I'd give you 欲佑 or 志佑.

Languages aren't typically translated by matching sounds, except in some cases. "Liam" means "strong willed warrior" so get that tattooed on you in Chinese.

Strong willed warrior sounds good. In which case I suggest 刚毅 as the Chinese variant of Liam.

It means, "resolute and firm", "fortitude", "firmness of character", "hardihood", "manliness", and is the name of a Chinese general: Gang Yi.
