kettenblatt Posted June 22, 2009 at 07:54 PM Report Share Posted June 22, 2009 at 07:54 PM Hi there, I would like to make a gift and write a wish with it, and I want to wish this person to find what she searches. I know how to write her name, but don't know the rest. Can it be something like: , 找出 你 寻找 什么! or is it completely wrong? Please help

BrandeX Posted June 23, 2009 at 03:36 PM Report Share Posted June 23, 2009 at 03:36 PM I believe the common English phrase you are looking to translate is: "Seek, and ye shall find."
skylee Posted June 23, 2009 at 03:52 PM Report Share Posted June 23, 2009 at 03:52 PM Consider 所尋必獲 or 尋之必獲.
kettenblatt Posted June 23, 2009 at 04:25 PM Author Report Share Posted June 23, 2009 at 04:25 PM Thank you so much, friends! I've decided to use 所尋必獲, because it small, looks like a motto and fits to the small gift that I have. Special thanks to skylee Leeyah, thank you too for your complete sentence, it is very interesting to split it into words and study the grammar. BrandeX, "Seek, and ye shall find" has the connotation "Why don't you seek? Do something!", or "You have to search to be able to find". And I wanted to say somethig like, "after so many years of searching, may your search be successful soon". Have a wonderful day!
leeyah Posted June 23, 2009 at 05:03 PM Report Share Posted June 23, 2009 at 05:03 PM 心想事成 is also nice It means: may all you wish for come true The whole well-wishing phrase goes: 心想事成,春风得意 & the second phrase means: wish you success in everything you do
