zeeda Posted June 30, 2009 at 03:14 AM Report Posted June 30, 2009 at 03:14 AM Hi Is it worthwhile to study russian in heilongjiang for a nominal Mandarin speaking Chinese? Quote
kdavid Posted June 30, 2009 at 04:40 AM Report Posted June 30, 2009 at 04:40 AM Are you referring to a native Chinese studying Mandarin? There are quite a few Russians here in Harbin, many of which are foreign teachers. If one had the choice of either studying in China or in Russia, the best option would be to go to Russia and get the immersion experience. Quote
zeeda Posted July 2, 2009 at 03:36 AM Author Report Posted July 2, 2009 at 03:36 AM Hi kdavid Thanks for your post. For an English speaking foreigner, with "not so strong" Mandarin background, which is the best place to study Russian in Heilongjiang? tx Quote
kdavid Posted July 2, 2009 at 07:39 AM Report Posted July 2, 2009 at 07:39 AM Well, I'd first have to say that if you're Mandarin isn't strong, first study Mandarin! It makes the most sense. Harbin is a great place to study Mandarin, and is renown for having a very standard accent. I'd probably also recommend Harbin for studying Russian. You're likely to find a lot of language schools here with Russian foreign teachers. Quote
