reallych1932 Posted July 9, 2009 at 05:45 PM Report Posted July 9, 2009 at 05:45 PM I'm going to China in September I was thinking of openinng a taobao account when I get there After all there's nothing better for sharpening a foreingn language than doing business Is it easy for a foreigner to do this? (open an account etc) As I will sell a couple of iphones --do you think i will have to pay tax on them (entering the country/sales tax)? Quote
Taobao Dude Posted July 10, 2009 at 05:51 AM Report Posted July 10, 2009 at 05:51 AM Yo Brodeo, Welcome to China! It is easy for anybody to open a Taobao account. To sell stuff, you will need to certify your identity on Taobao, which requires a Chinese friend to vouch for you, as well as a Chinese bank account. That part is a pain. Quote
111111 Posted July 12, 2009 at 02:37 AM Report Posted July 12, 2009 at 02:37 AM yeah, if you want to buy stuff via taobao, you can register online anytime as long as u have a chinese bank account which has opened network trading. But if you want to sell things, u shall attach Chinese Identification Card to verify your qualification, but you can ask your Chinese friend to operate with you. Besides, you may take best advantage of the taobao software -- Taobao Wang Wang to communicate with buyers or sellers online. Quote
chinahandinfo Posted July 13, 2009 at 01:26 AM Report Posted July 13, 2009 at 01:26 AM Taobao is certainly a buyers paradise! Just got to be careful as sometimes the photos and descriptions on the listing don't exactly match the goods they're advertising. Overall i'm more than happy with the service i've received when buying. There are a whole heap of fake iphones on there, you'll need to show that yours is the real deal, or else buyers may be put off! Quote
zozzen Posted July 25, 2009 at 02:51 PM Report Posted July 25, 2009 at 02:51 PM And be prepared with increasing harassment in taobao . Taobao is limp at this. Few months ago, a buyer received an excrement blackmail from a seller after he gave him a negative rating. Taobao took action only this juicy news got a headline. A long ago, I got a chance to experience the harassment. The seller phoned me more than 1000 times at 2-4am after I gave him negative rating. As the buyer said he did it to everyone who rate him negative, i contacted other victims and complained him. Here's Taobao model answer that no one could know what it talked about: 请双方协商解决,以德服人,被投诉方请马上到我的淘宝--信用管理--我收到的投诉举报申诉,我们将在7个工作日内作出处理结果,我们不希望因为此事,有任何一方被淘宝处罚。如果投诉方持有相关资料,请提供有效的相关证明。查看支付宝详细解释和演示说明 (http://www.taobao.com/helpcenter/?target=help_zfb_demo1.php)沟通从心开始诚信交易和气生财^O^服务专线:0571--88157858传真:0571-88157888 If you have to buy anything from taobao, avoid giving a buyer your phone number and real address. Ask them to send it to a courier directly. Quote
