{-Tharos-} Posted July 24, 2004 at 02:30 PM Report Posted July 24, 2004 at 02:30 PM Hi everyone! I'll be learning mandarin for the next year in Chengdu and I'd like to know if there's a way to get a part-time job beside english teaching. I won't have a working permit so is it possible to have a job that you get paid "under the table" ? Something that doesn't really need you to know the language ? Thanks for your help! Bye! Quote
anhmytran Posted July 25, 2004 at 12:47 AM Report Posted July 25, 2004 at 12:47 AM I believe in ChengDu there are always many and all kinds of jobs. However, the payments are very low, about 2 dollars a day. I am not sure local people are brave enough to offer these kinds of jobs to foreigners, especially the Caucasians who have different look. It is not the working permit. It is the tradition, the habit, to see the White people as strangers or aliens. Quote
