Highflyer_315 Posted July 15, 2009 at 07:37 AM Report Posted July 15, 2009 at 07:37 AM Hi, please can anyone help. I am hoping to go to China to marry my Chinese girlfriend. We hope to come back to the UK and live here at my home. It seems that I will need "adequate funds " so she will not have to rely on benefits. Can anyone put a figure on adequate funds. Also she would be arriving here with about £30,000 and would still be receiving an income from her business in China. Then she would hope to find work here. Many thanks Quote
Scoobyqueen Posted July 15, 2009 at 09:09 AM Report Posted July 15, 2009 at 09:09 AM Do you realise how many "hope" you used to describe the situation. I "hope" everything will turn out as you want it to. Sorry I cant help on the funds question. Best of luck. Quote

Lu Posted July 15, 2009 at 09:49 AM Report Posted July 15, 2009 at 09:49 AM Have you asked the UK visa/residence permit service? Surely they have rules about exactly how much money you are supposed to have. Good luck! Quote

roddy Posted July 15, 2009 at 10:00 AM Report Posted July 15, 2009 at 10:00 AM There probably isn't any rule, as it will depend on circumstances. I would say just look at what you'll reasonably need for your situation, and show that. Living in central London will likely need more money than . . .not. Quote
Highflyer_315 Posted July 15, 2009 at 11:02 AM Author Report Posted July 15, 2009 at 11:02 AM Thanks roddy and scooby. If I am a little in debt due to the current financial climate and recession, will the Embassy take into account that my wife to be would be arriving with enough funds to support herself. Quote
Lu Posted July 15, 2009 at 04:45 PM Report Posted July 15, 2009 at 04:45 PM I don't know about immigration rules in the UK, but I know in Holland there are a lot of rules and they are strict. You really should ask these things at the UK immigration office. No matter how helpful and knowledgeable people here are, the answers you get at the immigration office itself will be vastly more reliable and useful than anything said here, since they are the ones who make and maintain the rules.
