Alexandra Posted July 24, 2004 at 10:56 PM Report Posted July 24, 2004 at 10:56 PM This is my first posting and I hope I am posting in the appropriate forum. I have spent many years researching my own English heritage and now want to do the same for my husband's Chinese side as I believe it is important for our children to know where they came from. However my research involves more than wanting to know names and dates. My husbands family are from Baisha which is now a Western suburb of Jiangmen. I am trying to find information on the area approximately 60 years ago - what it looked like, conditions, why people left etc. I have searched on the internet but can only find a few very basic facts. If anyone could point me in the direction of books, libraries, collections etc it woud be appreciated. Unfortunately there are no family members who we can obtain any information from. Thank you. confucius Posted July 27, 2004 at 09:38 PM Report Posted July 27, 2004 at 09:38 PM Baisha was incorporated into Jiangmen's municipal zone. It is a developed area with nice parks and a new swimming pool facility. I have a friend there who works at the local school. I don't know what it was like 60 years ago, but a couple historic buildings remain protected and can be visited for a small fee. Quote
