Symbol for loyalty/devotion

I'm getting a tattoo and I need the chinese symbol for loyalty or devotion (either or both works) According to sites, theres many forms of it and this confuses me. So basically here's what I found, could you tell me exactly what it means. Oh and also, if there is a way to say loyalty or devotion in one symbol that would be awesome! I'm a bit pressed for space..Thanks in advance:)

Nobody can tell you exactly what something means with a translation, but I'm getting nitpicky.

忠 [1] faithful; loyalty; patriotic; constant; sincerity [2] devoted; honest (advice, etc.)

義 [1] [n[ justice; righteousness [2] generosity; charity; philanthropy; chivalry [3] meaning; connotation [4] unreal; artificial; fake [5] a Chinese family name

義 is far from what you're looking for.

Right, those are Chinese characters, alright, but as a motto or a tattoo it reminds me more of its connotation in Japanese, much closer to the meaning of "giri" >>> here , and in this context for males mostly, but I'm not sure

Anyway, for some reason I feel that 忠爱 would be its female variant, with similar meaning: love & devotion
