chineserelics Posted May 27, 2012 at 09:47 AM Report Posted May 27, 2012 at 09:47 AM I don't think Chinese body language is particularly unique. There is one thing that I have noticed which is girls sometimes stick their tongues out in a cheeky way when they are embarrassed, a bit like they're saying "I messed up, oops!". As for my body language changing, not so much. When I am practicing Japanese I find myself bowing quite a lot, no idea why! When I speak Chinese my personality does change a little, I become a bit more playful because I find the Chinese to be quite a playful lot. With Westerners I tend to act a little bit more mature. LondonInvestigator Posted July 18, 2012 at 06:13 PM Report Posted July 18, 2012 at 06:13 PM I found the Chinese people much more rigid and less bodily expressive than compared with Westerners. This makes them much more difficult to read !! They are however very warm people and nothing will take this away from them...! Quote
RLBeijing Posted August 1, 2012 at 09:31 AM Report Posted August 1, 2012 at 09:31 AM Compared to all the daily small gestures (more head movements than hand/arm/body movements), there is one form of a pretty dramatic "Nooo!" here in Beijing: right hand completely open and shaking, elbow extended and locked in front of us.
