Shanti Posted July 25, 2009 at 04:56 AM Report Posted July 25, 2009 at 04:56 AM Hi I don't know if this has previously been posted but I couldn't find a post, other than a debate between studying in the two places (PRC - RPC). So my question is where is the best place to study in Taiwan? I don't care if it's private or university... I'm just having difficulty deciding a specific place. Tapei Language Institute looks good...but I don't know cause I've never been to taiwan and I also like to meet some others who are dedicated to studying chinese, not just doing it for there job or because they're a housewife and their husband wants them studying (it's quite common in Shanghai). I should give the background that I'm studying in Taiwan because there is surfing in taiwan, in Australia I'm a once or twice a day surfaholic, so I'm dying here in the PRC. If anyone has studied, in the RPC please let me know your opinion. Cheers Shanti Quote
Lu Posted July 28, 2009 at 02:10 PM Report Posted July 28, 2009 at 02:10 PM National Taiwan Normal University. Their Mandarin Training Center is filled with foreigners studying Chinese, because they are interested in the language (for whatever reason). I haven't met any housewifes who had to study there. National Taiwan University is also good, I've heard. I think there's surfing in Fulong, close to Taipei, but I guess you know more about where the best places for that are. Generally Taiwanese are not big on surfing, since many people can't swim. Quote

Shi Tong Posted May 15, 2010 at 10:34 PM Report Posted May 15, 2010 at 10:34 PM I dont really know that much about Taiwanese colleges, though i did go to one. The only think I have to say is that if you study in Taipei or Taichung (taizhong), the accents there are more likely to be closer to standard Mandarin than further flung places where their mother tongues are Taiwanese.
