7jason7 Posted July 28, 2004 at 04:58 AM Report Posted July 28, 2004 at 04:58 AM Can anyone recommend a good short term ( ~ 3-6 months ) Chinese language program in Shanghai? Is Fudan good? Any other schools? Thank you. Quote

thepokergod Posted September 7, 2004 at 10:23 PM Report Posted September 7, 2004 at 10:23 PM Quality of teaching varies hugely at Fudan but it's in a good part of town and the people are nice. Quote

ced1zh Posted December 12, 2004 at 10:39 AM Report Posted December 12, 2004 at 10:39 AM Yes, Shanghai Jiao Tong Univeristy(or Shanghai Communication Unicersity) is also very good, I think it's been listed as SH's top three Uni. Quote
ala Posted December 16, 2004 at 10:53 PM Report Posted December 16, 2004 at 10:53 PM Fudan (on par with Peking U, Tsinghua) Jiaotong Tongji Are all pretty good. If you are German-speaking, I recommend Tongji. Most of the universities in Shanghai are all in or around the northern Yangpu district, which is not very convenient transportation-wise with the commercial downtown area (Huangpu, Luwan, Xujiahui districts). There are many bus routes and taxis is always a good option, but no rail connection (for now). Do people really think Fudan is in a good part of town? Yangpu district to me is immensely boring compared to the southern districts. Lots of concrete. Quote
nerveandmuscle Posted March 1, 2005 at 07:43 AM Report Posted March 1, 2005 at 07:43 AM I studied at TongJi for a semster and I can vouch for the German thing. There were as many students looking for German language partners as English language partners. The program at TongJi is small (10 classes of students) compared to other schools but the quality of teaching varied greatly depending on the instructor. Maybe you should also consider Shanghai Wai Yu Da Xue. Their campus is right by the elevated train so transportation was better than from Tongji or it's even more farflung neighbor Fudan. Quote
