Loriquero Posted July 29, 2009 at 05:00 AM Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 05:00 AM Hi there! I´m a foreigner living in Shanghai, I wanna go to Vietnam next month for 旅游。 Any experience with the visa issues? a friend of mine is telling me there´s some kind of online application, but I don´t really know about wether is a scam or not, I would rather going directly to the consulate but it looks to be more expensive than this online application... Any lead? Quote
HashiriKata Posted July 29, 2009 at 06:09 AM Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 06:09 AM If you're unsure about the online application, then going to the consulate is the option. If I remember correctly, the fees in China are quite affordable. Why trying to save when there's a chance that you may feel sorry? Quote
Loriquero Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:01 AM Author Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:01 AM Now I may have to feel sorry because I just bought the tickets, so If they deny the visa, I will feel deeply sorry... But yeah, I will do that, I´ll go tomorrow morning to the consulate Quote

anonymoose Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:21 AM Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:21 AM Is there a consulate in Shanghai? I went to Guangzhou to get mine only six months ago. Quote
Loriquero Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:26 AM Author Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:26 AM Yeah, there is one, 浦东大道900号华辰金融大厦302室,电话021-68555871。 I don´t trust those websites because they are .org, .com... I don´t think this kind of things should be managed by such a common domain names... The website of Vietnam Embassy in China http://www.mofa.gov.vn/vnemb.china/zh doesn´t help much more... Quote
anonymoose Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:32 AM Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 07:32 AM Yeah, there is one Oh, bum Quote
roddy Posted July 29, 2009 at 08:00 AM Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 08:00 AM Not uncommon for embassies to outsource visa processing. As long as its linked to from the embassy website I'd be happy enough. Quote
liuzhou Posted July 29, 2009 at 08:18 AM Report Posted July 29, 2009 at 08:18 AM There is a consulate in Nanning which seems fairly laid back. Quote
jonny.potter Posted July 30, 2009 at 03:33 AM Report Posted July 30, 2009 at 03:33 AM Dont worry about sorting out a visa beforehand, when you arrive in vietnam (assuming you are flying) you can get a visa before passing through customs. I would say 99% of my flight did that including me. Quick and easy. Just make sure to have a couple of passport photos on you just in case they need them. I cant remember how much it cost but I do remember them taking Chinese currency, no hassle. Quote
Loriquero Posted July 30, 2009 at 09:49 AM Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 at 09:49 AM Ok, I just came back from the consulate, they just took my passport, one pic, 450RMB, and my "dryness" was raining like I have never seen in a long time... thanks for the answers, I will pick up my passport (with the visa hopefully) this august 4th Quote
