chen88 Posted July 31, 2009 at 07:59 AM Report Posted July 31, 2009 at 07:59 AM Hello! I created a set of wikis to promote study abroad in Asia as part of a Freeman-ASIA project. It is completely free and currently most useful to Americans ages high school to adults/professionals as well as international students currently studying at US institutions. http://www.studyabroadinasia.wikispot.org/ Please do check out the wikis as you will undoubtedly find some programs, grant-funded study opportunities, or scholarships that interest you. Also, if you could help out with the wiki’s construction I would be extremely grateful. The idea is for it to eventually become a community project, sort of like Wikipedia. People who have attended the study abroad centers create relatively objective summaries of the program experience, and then they leave reviews so prospective students can get a good idea of what they are in for if they attend the program. Also, general (non program-specific) scholarships and different grant-funded options help students who might otherwise be able to afford travel to Asia find their way there. Things that need the most work at the moment are program summaries and program reviews. The majority of the program summaries on the website are currently based on information from program websites, which is limited and often may not offer an full picture of what academics and life at the program is actually like. With the original conception of the wiki, the idea was the more details about the program experience, the better, so prospective students know what they are getting themselves into (see ACC's program summary for an example). If you have attended a program or know a lot about it, please add to the summaries and/or leave a program review. Editing is relatively simple - you do not even have to create a login name to do create or edit pages. Any intellectual contributions to the website would be greatly appreciated. Some parts of the website are not yet completed, but the website is under continuous development. Also, please leave comments with any ideas or criticisms. For example, what would prospective students want to know from former students that could not be found in the program summaries? Thank you for your help! Quote
