trien27 Posted August 22, 2009 at 11:33 PM Report Posted August 22, 2009 at 11:33 PM (edited) All we need now is for someone to come along and say actually in this sentence it should be pronounced liao Whoever said 了 should be "liao" is really messed up in their learning of Chinese by confusing everything. I don't think anyone who's learned 文明, would additionally add a confusion by saying 明了 = "ming liao" = to be clear about something. 明 is here a part of 文明, and not 明了, so there should be no confusion whatsoever. If the person used ming liao then this person isn't really clear what they're saying! It would then turn out to be somewhat of a hyper-correction. pat. pat. Hope you weren't going to pat, pat yourself on the "pat pat" [Cantonese: body part]!!! Edited August 22, 2009 at 11:48 PM by trien27 additional information Quote
