New Members stevehl Posted November 6, 2011 at 12:10 AM New Members Report Posted November 6, 2011 at 12:10 AM Hi I use Hanping Chinese Pro as it supports pinyin, english and handwriting. For around $10US it's a very reasonable investment. This software also speaks the words in Chinese. For scanning text I use Scan doc. ww. xmscan.com - again a small cost. With both of these apps there is a free version which is quite functional. In Hanping Chinese Pro it gives you a few more functions such as marking favourite words and speaking. Support for Hanping is very good. Quote
New Members stimut Posted November 6, 2011 at 12:49 PM New Members Report Posted November 6, 2011 at 12:49 PM A bit off-topic, but could be very useful... It's a paid app, though, so it's a pain to get it in China In Market, search for "MarketEnabler" (quotes and capitalisation not important, but not having the space is). It's a free app by "rac". This allows you to trick Google into thinking you are in a different country (or a different network) and so get access to paid apps. Quote
atitarev Posted February 14, 2012 at 02:16 AM Report Posted February 14, 2012 at 02:16 AM Pleco has just been released for androids - available on Android Market. Come on, download quickly, the handwriting recognition is only available till 30 June. I haven't tested it myself (I installed Hanping recently), it's downloading while I'm typing. Ok, started. Looks very good! 1 Quote
gato Posted March 15, 2013 at 03:26 AM Report Posted March 15, 2013 at 03:26 AM I posted about the Duokan book reader app here. You can consider it as an alternative: http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/37821-ipad-textpdf-reader-apps-that-include-built-in-chinese-dictionaries/#comment-303260 Quote
