reallych1932 Posted August 24, 2009 at 12:23 PM Report Posted August 24, 2009 at 12:23 PM Ive decided at the last minute to study in a (big) Chinese uni this Fall term-- they say I can come on a tourist visa (L) and then convert to a study visa (X)when I get there. Sounds dodgy. I don't want to get there and then have them say sorry the rules have changed What do you guys think? Anyone done anything similar? Quote
BrandeX Posted August 24, 2009 at 02:27 PM Report Posted August 24, 2009 at 02:27 PM Typically Universities aren't too "dodgy" especially if they are a well known name. Recruiters, or schools hiring foreign teachers, sure. It is certainly possible they can get you an X, you may have to go to HK or something though, it's best to ask more specifics if they will give it to you to make sure. Quote
reallych1932 Posted August 24, 2009 at 03:18 PM Author Report Posted August 24, 2009 at 03:18 PM thanks for the reply looking back -dodgy is the wrong word, what I meant was really ignorant of visa policy or don't really care about the students Quote
XiaoBin Posted August 25, 2009 at 08:30 AM Report Posted August 25, 2009 at 08:30 AM A uni will be able to help you get a F or X study visa. Most prob they have an on campus office to handle this stuff. Note that for a X visa you will need to have a health check done. If you are applying in China, you will have to do the check there. Not sure what they will charge you there. Quote
