PhilipLean Posted August 26, 2009 at 01:38 AM Report Share Posted August 26, 2009 at 01:38 AM (edited) The Chinese Character Bible - not a religious item but a Hanzi learning tool http://www.globechinese.com/gallery.html This an excellent program for viewing and learning how characters are written and for learning more about the characters. I have to declare some involvement. I discovered this program last year when I started learning Mandarin. I was impressed and helped the author to improve the English in the Help files, The English is still not perfect but it can be understood. Later I realized that while the program is quite useful it is more suitable for a person a bit more advanced in their leaning. I have recently returned to using it. Attached is a screenshot - slightly reduced in size in order to display, so it has lost a little clarity. tooironic Posted August 26, 2009 at 10:40 PM Report Share Posted August 26, 2009 at 10:40 PM Don't mean to sound rude, but what can it do that Wenlin can't?
PhilipLean Posted August 26, 2009 at 11:58 PM Author Report Share Posted August 26, 2009 at 11:58 PM tooironic - That is a good question. I do not know enough all features of Wenlin, I know Wenlin does more but it also costs a lot more. I didn't discover Wenlin until long after I had discovered the Chinese Character Bible. I am still learning about Wenlin, I now have the demo. The two programs also present information information in quite different ways. I now use the Chinese Character Bible on a USB stick which his proving useful. I am glad you posted that comment. I hope someone with more knowledge than me of both Chinese and learning Chinese will post some detailed comments and compare the program to others out there.
