Mai Kairong Posted August 30, 2009 at 11:42 PM Report Posted August 30, 2009 at 11:42 PM So my Chinese name is 麥愷蓉 (麦恺蓉) and after I say it, when people ask me which characters those are, I don't know what to say. As in, ___ 的愷, ___ 的蓉 or something like that. Can someone more experienced than I am help me out? Thank you! Quote
Jim Posted August 31, 2009 at 12:03 AM Report Posted August 31, 2009 at 12:03 AM 蓉 seems easy enough, 芙蓉的~ ; it's also the single-character used as shorthand for Chengdu. 愷 the only one I know is Julius Caesar 恺撒 and that's often written 凯撒, so you might have to add "竖心旁". Can't think of any pop stars or something more contemporary. Sticking the character in Google throws up some possibilities but not heard of any of them myself. Perhaps a young person with a social life will be along shortly to suggest someone appropriate Quote
skylee Posted August 31, 2009 at 12:17 AM Report Posted August 31, 2009 at 12:17 AM 豐子愷的愷 ... provided that people know who 豐子愷 was. (PS - to me he was a very famous writer/artist.) Quote
Guoke Posted August 31, 2009 at 09:28 AM Report Posted August 31, 2009 at 09:28 AM 麥當勞叔叔的--"麥" 釣凱子的凱改成竖心旁的--"愷" 出水芙蓉,如我的--"蓉" Quote
Lu Posted September 1, 2009 at 02:08 PM Report Posted September 1, 2009 at 02:08 PM 心山豆愷, would that work? Quote
stonelee Posted September 5, 2009 at 03:37 PM Report Posted September 5, 2009 at 03:37 PM 麦——麦当劳 or 麦当娜的麦 恺——you can say:凯旋的凯改成竖心旁. i am sure that mention 竖心旁 will help Chinese peple understand which "kai3" in your name. 蓉—— Jim 蓉 seems easy enough, 芙蓉的~ 芙蓉 is the best way to expain 蓉. And you can add 草字头的蓉 to make it more clear. Quote
