Popular Post Weng.Xinyu Posted November 22, 2011 at 09:59 PM Author Popular Post Report Posted November 22, 2011 at 09:59 PM Hi, the lazy blogger is back again~ How is everyone doing? My greatest thanks to those who still come to visit Slow Chinese from time to time. Your kind support deserve my respect! Because of the high cost of the server (luckily the contract has lately expired) I've moved my website to another service provider. Now Slow Chinese may respond theoretically a little bit slower, but this short delay is hardly sensible. My website was down for some time several months ago, I didn't realize untiled I tried to update new material. I'm tech-idiot, it can take me quite much time to figure out how to solve a problem, and mostly through numerous experimentings... Anyway, everything is still fine by now. Ok, I've recently installed a plugin, which adapts the whole website into a smart-phone-friendly version, and it just works as easy and convinient as an app on your phone. Check it out! And please don't hesitate to share the website with others, so that more people get free access to the learning-materials, if you think they're still satisfying. One more thing, if you have any suggestion on topics, please reply me, or drop me an email or a message on my website. I've been tracking visitor traffic of my website, and I know there're some poeple who love my website, so I won't stop it easily, I'll keep on working on it! Yours, Xinyu 9 Quote

Confused Laowai Posted November 23, 2011 at 01:31 PM Report Posted November 23, 2011 at 01:31 PM Yay glad to see it's back up. An excellent resource indeed. Would've been sad to see it go. Quote
RBudz Posted December 30, 2011 at 01:42 AM Report Posted December 30, 2011 at 01:42 AM I see that someone has generated some word lists... has anyone done any translations of the texts themselves? For my spaced repetition app I like to use the sentences as well as the individual vocab items. Is there a thread for this already? Is there anyone out there that would like to collaborate on this? I'm going to do these for myself anyway. But if others are already doing the same thing it would be great to collaborate to save time. Quote

Popular Post Weng.Xinyu Posted December 11, 2013 at 03:00 PM Author Popular Post Report Posted December 11, 2013 at 03:00 PM Hi, as you've seen, 慢速中文 Slow Chinese is coming back! Now allow me to do a little advertising again~ 慢速中文 Slow Chinese is a culture podcast for advanced Chinese learners. If you are learning Chinese and have endless curiosity about China, you are at the right place! 慢速中文 Slow Chinese podcasts are personal narratives by native Chinese people, they are read in Mandarin at a slow speed (2~3 Characters per second). Topics vary from language, knowledge, tradition and culture to opinions on social phenomenon. We are a team of enthusiastic young Chinese and we will devote ourselves to revealing the authentic China in its own language. However, we are not professional Chinese teachers. We do not garantee the correctness of choice of word and grammatic. What we do grantee is that we are 100% Chinese. For some reasons, 慢速中文 Slow Chinese stopped updating for some time. During this time we gathered some ideas to improve the website. Now we are a big family and we will work hard to offer more interesting and new content! Check out our website! Hope you will like it! Please support us by sharing this piece of information with as many friends as possible. Your support and appreciation is our motivation! Visit us:www.slow-chinese.com 昕煜 Xinyu and team 5 Quote
laurenth Posted December 11, 2013 at 05:38 PM Report Posted December 11, 2013 at 05:38 PM Xinyu, I already told you so elsewhere, but thanks a LOT for this wonderful and useful resource, thanks for being back with new podcasts. Two remarks. First, I'm not sure about the "for advanced learners". I'm not an advanced learner, by any stretch of the imagination, I'm intermediate, at best, whatever that means, somewhere between HSK4 (done) and HSK5 (hope), and I believe most of your podcasts are right for my level. Don't scare away potential users because of the "advanced" label. Second, I you ever want to make your podcasts even more useful, wouldn't it be nice if you could provide them read at full speed in addition to the slow version? Keep on the good work! 1 Quote
Weng.Xinyu Posted December 12, 2013 at 09:54 AM Author Report Posted December 12, 2013 at 09:54 AM Hi Laurenth, you're absolutely right, this is an aweful stretegy I've made. I've corrected the text. As for normal speed podcast, I think you might be worrying about idea that slow podcasts be not so original or "daily" or "normal". Don't worry about it, we're going to speed up, at least podcasts by me will speed up and will become just similar to a normal talk ( only a little bit slower). Since we now have several editors and hosts, each of whom concentrating on different levels and speeds of reading, and also out of the consideration of keeping the website simple and easy, I would rather put aside the plan of making a normal speed reading. And we're trying to re-consider the "slow". We're going to replace the "slow" for speed with the "slow" similar to that in "Slow Life". We wil try to do the podcast carefully and diligently with heart, as well as maintaining the originality from the feeling of a native speaker. I wish you be satisfied with my answers! many many thanks again! See you on 慢速中文 Slow Chinese Xinyu 1 Quote
