smithsgj Posted September 17, 2003 at 08:57 AM Report Posted September 17, 2003 at 08:57 AM Can anyone recommend a Chinese - English online dictionary? I've tried the ones at zhongwen.com (which only does characters, not words) and CEDICT (which has lots of mirrors, none of which seem to work properly). Cheers. Quote

Guest Yang Guizi Posted November 16, 2003 at 01:38 PM Report Posted November 16, 2003 at 01:38 PM This Chinese/English dictionary provides a searchable interface for the CEDICT dictionary put together by Paul Denisowksi. Searches can be conducted by Chinese (using either the GB, Big5, or Unicode encodings), pinyin, or English. Results will show the Chinese word, the pinyin representation of the word, and the English definition. This is at the top of my favourites list. It sometimes has problems with character searches, though. Quote

pazu Posted November 18, 2003 at 12:08 PM Report Posted November 18, 2003 at 12:08 PM Have you tried Babylon online dictionary? You just download the program and then you can have an inline dictionary, very handy and easy to get a Chinese translation of any English text on a webpage. There're lots of dictionaries available, CHI-ENG and ENG-CHI (with both traditional and simplified form of Chinese), JPN-ENG, FRENCH, GERMAN, etc. http://www.babylon.com/ Quote
Guest fodun Posted November 25, 2003 at 09:57 AM Report Posted November 25, 2003 at 09:57 AM I think http://www.iciba.net/ is the best one. It is a Chinese - English and English-Chinese online dictionary, but not support the traditional Chinese characters. Quote
