renzhe Posted September 16, 2009 at 10:05 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2009 at 10:05 AM We don't know what you mean exactly by "different types of characters". You can transliterate a name using different characters. And sometimes the same character can be written in different ways. So, in any case, it is almost certain that different people will transcribe names using characters that look different, unless it's a very common name with an accepted transliteration. BrandeX Posted September 16, 2009 at 10:10 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2009 at 10:10 AM Raya is Israeli for friend, so you want a tattoo of the chinese word for friend, like "pengyou" or however it's spelled in hanzi. Anything else would be meaningless, unless of course you didn't know your name came from the Israeli word for friend in the first place. Translating meanings is the only way to do it correctly imo, all English names mean something, they are not just random sounds. http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Raya

BrandeX Posted September 19, 2009 at 02:49 AM Report Share Posted September 19, 2009 at 02:49 AM I'd recommend sharing what you found here, so the experts (not me) can verify it.
