xianhua Posted September 18, 2009 at 06:22 PM Report Posted September 18, 2009 at 06:22 PM OK, so I'm faced with the sentence: 除了钱,你送什么礼物都有可能是不合适的. I can see from my Boya text book, that the 什么 and 都 form a construction. Where can I go online for a good explanation of such constructions? Is there such a website where I can just type in 什么 and 都 and get an explanation? I realise there are some good books on grammar, but would prefer to avoid the cost if possible. As I've said before, there are gaps in my learning and some things which I should know, are not known (or have been forgotten). Quote
jbradfor Posted September 18, 2009 at 07:37 PM Report Posted September 18, 2009 at 07:37 PM http://comet.cls.yale.edu/chineseusagedictionary/ is one. It does not seem to have your particular example, however. Quote
renzhe Posted September 18, 2009 at 10:34 PM Report Posted September 18, 2009 at 10:34 PM I'm not aware of a good grammar resource on the internet. But 什么 + 都 = everything, 谁+都 = everyone, 哪里+都 = everywhere, etc. Quote
