taryn Posted September 28, 2009 at 02:12 AM Report Posted September 28, 2009 at 02:12 AM Ok you Beijing experts! What's a cheap (and clean) place to stay down in the touristy side of Beijing? [150 yuan or less a night] I'm coming this weekend, Oct 1 - 5. A friend will be showing me around part of the time but he lives across town... I'm down for dorm style accommodations, but I prefer single-sex rooms. (Strange) boys are gross....lol: Any and all help appreciated. Quote
roddy Posted September 28, 2009 at 05:01 AM Report Posted September 28, 2009 at 05:01 AM Friend just stayed here and thought it was fine. The Downtown Backpackers has also got good reports in the past, although the street it's on is now a lot busier than it used to be. Good luck arriving on the first - if your taxi takes a wrong turn you might end up in the parade . . Quote
taryn Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:05 AM Author Report Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:05 AM Thanks Roddy...I'll check those out... I was wondering about all that parade stuff but my plane doesn't even touch down until 7pm...Maybe the excitement will have died down by then? Quote
roddy Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:18 AM Report Posted September 28, 2009 at 07:18 AM It's Beijing, my dear, the excitement never ends. It's not allowed to. You should be ok if you're getting in later, and anyway you're not needing to cross the actual parade route. Hopefully this won't affect you, as you're incoming, and later in the day. I'd book the hostel in advance though for at least your first night, as it could be busy due to the holiday. Quote
