roddy Posted September 30, 2009 at 12:37 PM Report Posted September 30, 2009 at 12:37 PM Tragically I don't think I'm going to be able to sit glued to the television for all of it, but if anyone's interested CCTV1 is currently showing what I can only describe as a large-scale interpretive musical ballet history of China. You should be able to watch online here (may need a plug in). We're only up to the Long March, so there's loads of good stuff to come. Edit: Ah, it's this. The Japanese just invaded! Quote
Outofin Posted October 22, 2009 at 07:15 PM Report Posted October 22, 2009 at 07:15 PM Watched it. It's both great and awful and weird in some respect. I just can't believe this thing exists. I liked the old song 我们的田野. The fat ugly lady has an angel's voice. We need more musicians like her. She can reach high notes effortlessly, like a breeze. Surprisingly, many friends told me that's 韩红 and they already know her. Well, I didn't. Quote
xianhua Posted October 22, 2009 at 07:31 PM Report Posted October 22, 2009 at 07:31 PM The fat ugly lady A little more respect required for the iconic diva me thinks! I remember listening to quite a range of Chinese singers a few years ago, and Han Hong was the only one who stood out as exceptional. Quote
Outofin Posted October 23, 2009 at 04:28 AM Report Posted October 23, 2009 at 04:28 AM Sorry, I didn't make my compliment obvious and clear. She's good and I'm fond of her. Quote
