tooironic Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:04 AM Report Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:04 AM Does anyone know which of these would be a standard translation for "break even point" (the financial concept) in Chinese? 均衡点 盈亏平衡点 持平点 Cheers. Quote
889 Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:27 AM Report Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:27 AM The most common translation seems to be 收支平衡点.shou-zhi pingheng dian. Quote
self-taught-mba Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:30 AM Report Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:30 AM Middle one. Also we use: 盈亏临界点,收支平衡点 The last one seems to get used a lot. Also for your reference 总固定成本 -Total Fixed Costs 单位变动成本 -Variable Costs per Unit 单位产品价格 -SP Per Unit Edit: Dammit! I take to long to compose so he beat me to it. But we both seem to agree on the common one. Quote
imron Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:47 AM Report Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:47 AM I'll also put in a vote for 收支平衡点, although Baidupedia seems to suggest 盈亏平衡点 is perhaps a more formal term. A quick search on Caijing.com.cn also corroborates this (a corresponding search for 收支平衡点 returned 0 results). Quote
tooironic Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:53 AM Author Report Posted October 3, 2009 at 03:53 AM Fantastic. Wenlin also has an entry for 收支平衡 as a "balance between income and expenditure" so that looks very promising. Cheers. Quote
self-taught-mba Posted October 3, 2009 at 04:37 AM Report Posted October 3, 2009 at 04:37 AM A quick search on Caijing.com.cn also corroborates this (a corresponding search for 收支平衡点 returned 0 results). That's b/c most will drop the dian3. It reallly is not needed. Also it can be used to mean "balance of payments" as in the balance of payments statement for a country 国际收支平衡表. Therefore I prefer to use 盈亏临界点 if I don't want any room for ambiguity and the more common one when it is clear from context. Quote
