HashiriKata Posted October 6, 2009 at 07:43 AM Report Share Posted October 6, 2009 at 07:43 AM Has anyone heard of or had experience of "Great Wall Chinese"? Is this a text book, a series of textbooks or a set of teaching resources/ methods? All I know about it is the Confucius Institute trains teachers to teach "Great Wall Chinese" and I'd like know more about it, especially from people with some experience of it. Cheers,
qicheng2603 Posted October 21, 2009 at 01:28 AM Report Share Posted October 21, 2009 at 01:28 AM I remembered it was originally a series of Mandarin textbooks, but I am not quite sure. After that, they built a company and develop some relating softwares for learning the language. This company is partly supported by Hanban, I think that is why the teachers of Confucius Institute are trained to used it. You can find the link to the company from the website of Hanban. sgtpepper Posted October 30, 2009 at 10:48 AM Report Share Posted October 30, 2009 at 10:48 AM 你好! I'm using those books like a student for Chinese language. There're three main levels of language profficiency according to Great Wall Chinese: primary, intermediate and advanced. Every level includes 6 books, that consist of a textbook, workbook and disc. Namely you have 18 levels in sum. It means you have 18 books. The method stresses on developing communication skills. In my opinion, this learning program is vey nice. In disc you can find series of flash short movies dedicated to every lesson. In addition, there's a software for pronunciation refinment, notes on characters and a lof of good staff, that will contribute very much to your learning experience.
