westmeadboy Posted October 12, 2009 at 09:23 AM Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 at 09:23 AM Anyone got any tips on how to get Windows 7 (english) while still in China? I see in UK/US its being released on 22nd October. Also, buying it over there on pre-order is much cheaper (about £60 for full home premium version) than buying it once it has been released... So, if I can't get it here for a similar price I'll do that. If not, I'll buy it through amazon and either collect when I'm back in the UK or try to get it delivered here... roddy Posted October 12, 2009 at 10:06 AM Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 at 10:06 AM Looks like if you have Enterprise or Ultimate edition you can change the language. Amazon.cn has those two versions of Windows 7 in Chinese at 1400 and 2460, which compares with 150/160GBP on Amazon.co.uk. Quite a bit pricier than the home editions though. gerri Posted October 12, 2009 at 10:08 AM Report Share Posted October 12, 2009 at 10:08 AM I can say that China will be getting the cheapest retail prices of just about any markets - still not all that cheap, though. Especially since, for getting a version that may run in English, one would have to get the Ultimate (or whatever the best version is now called) - that is said to support running the OS in different languages... I'm considering a trip to Hong Kong, once new Windows 7 notebooks have come out.
Prodigal Son Posted October 19, 2009 at 05:34 AM Report Share Posted October 19, 2009 at 05:34 AM Do like the Chinese do. Buy it for 5 kuai at any computer market. Or download it for free.
