Asylum Posted October 21, 2009 at 01:34 AM Report Posted October 21, 2009 at 01:34 AM Here's the deal, I was born in China but I'd only lived there for a year before my mom took me to America and become an American citizen. When I was 23 I made a visit to China to try and apply for Chinese citizenship, well I hit a snag because apparently I needed some sort of Identification like a Chinese school ID or something. Fortunately a few relatives of mine that worked for the government took care of the paperwork and I now have my own Chinese ID card. That makes me a Chinese citizen, right? I know America and China do not recognize dual citizenships and I only have an American passport so I'm just wondering If I decide to work in China would I still need a work visa? Thanks Quote
liuzhou Posted October 21, 2009 at 11:47 AM Report Posted October 21, 2009 at 11:47 AM Yes. Unless you have a Chinese passport you will need a visa. Having an ID card doesn't help. Having a Chinese ID card doesn't necessarily mean you have Chinese citizenship. You might be able to find work, but it would be illegal. Quote
