atitarev Posted October 23, 2009 at 12:05 AM Report Share Posted October 23, 2009 at 12:05 AM (edited) Please suggest a good (common) translation for chiropractor, chiropractic. I like 脊医 but not sure if it's common. Online dictionaries offer very long, descriptive translations, which I didn't quite like but maybe they were right? Other options I found: 脊骨神经科医生 脊骨神经医师 捏积者 These are really long: 脊椎指压治疗师 指用脊椎指压疗法进行治疗的人 EDIT: Wenlin has just 捏积, not 捏积者. Perhaps, I confused the English terms. This must be it! 捏积 - chiropractic 捏积者 - chiropractor Edited October 23, 2009 at 12:35 AM by atitarev
leeyah Posted October 24, 2009 at 03:33 AM Report Share Posted October 24, 2009 at 03:33 AM It seems chiropraxis can be expressed simply as 整脊 or(脊柱) 按摩疗法. Just replace 法 with 师 for chiropractor. Not sure, but I'd say 指压 in 脊椎指压治疗 refers primarily to 'shiatsu'. 推拿 is the anmo thing in China. abcdefg Posted October 24, 2009 at 04:24 AM Report Share Posted October 24, 2009 at 04:24 AM Just curious -- Does China even have chiropractors? With the variety of massage styles and massage adjuncts available on the mainland, I would guess there might not be much demand for Chiropractors. People would just naturally gravitate to massage therapists for treatment of their musculo-skeletal ailments.
