JaNaDa Posted October 25, 2009 at 06:21 PM Report Posted October 25, 2009 at 06:21 PM I will be visiting Beijing in November and was wondering if Subway Line 4 now has a stop at or near the Summer Palace? If there is, is it an easy walk from the subway station to the entrance to the Summer Palace grounds? xiexie JaNaDa Ottawa, ON Canada Quote
Xiwang Posted October 26, 2009 at 12:28 AM Report Posted October 26, 2009 at 12:28 AM The Beigongmen (北宫门) stop on Line 4 takes you to the North gate of the Summer Palace. If you want to enter by the main East gate, then get off on the Xiyuan (西苑) stop and walk about ten minutes westward. Here is a website showing the locations of the subway stops on Google maps: http://www.explorebj.com/subway/pedia/station/beigongmen/ If you want to duplicate President Hu Jintao's Line 4 ride to the Summer Palace from a few weeks ago, get off on the Xiyuan stop. (Shaking hands with local Chinese as you walk down the street is optional.) http://www.danwei.org/front_page_of_the_day/a_beautiful_day_for_a_fall_out.php Quote
JaNaDa Posted October 26, 2009 at 10:24 AM Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 at 10:24 AM Thank you very much for the info. Looking forward to another visit to Beijing and this time, going to the Summer Palace. Every time we visit, we never seem to get to do everything we had planned to do. xiexie JaNaDa Quote
