Writing on a chinese tea cup

jekarl

Recommended Posts

Well, if the characters mean happy and china, I'm guessing it's probably not something I would be upset with having on my cup? haha I'd still like to know what it says if someone could possibly make it out... Just for dinner conversation, ya know.

Thanks guys for what you've told me so far!

oh, jekarl, the characters don't mean happy and china. A single Chinese character's meaning is like a tag cloud. Most Chinese words consist of two-three characters, and these unique combinations specify the meaning of the whole word in each case.

So, 陶然 means "happy, relaxed, content" as skylee told you.
