Lu Posted November 1, 2009 at 11:36 AM Report Posted November 1, 2009 at 11:36 AM (edited) I found a tip on a VoIP-service called Nonoh (www.nonoh.net), that would allow free calls to China. Free! Apparently you do need to register, and after 120 days of calling for free you have to start paying a little, but still. Does anyone here have experience with this particular service? It sound too good to be true, I'm trying to see what's the catch here. Edited November 1, 2009 at 11:48 AM by roddy fixed link Quote
tortue Posted November 1, 2009 at 08:32 PM Report Posted November 1, 2009 at 08:32 PM Hi, personally I think it is. However, the limitation is a certain number of minutes within a week (i.e. the last seven days). I think it is around 300 minutes, they call this model "fair use policy". Be careful that the limitation is also per IP address, that is if you are using it along with other people at the same internet connection it could be exceeded more rapidly too. You get the 120 freedays upon every payment (prepaid, 10EUR minimum afaik) I use nonoh and others of the sorts for quite a while and I think it's great. It is particularly useful if you can use your credit for other destinations (like european mobiles) and use the "free days" for landline (and mobile in countries like China, US etc.) Check out an overview of all the voip services by that company called betamax at http://progx.ch/home-voip-prixbetamax-3-1-1.html It does also support the SIP protocol, so you can use it with any SIP compatible phone or your favourite mobile toy and a SIP softphone... Audio quality depends on destination and service, and sometimes also on, well, the weather maybe? Seriously it isn't always top but mostly ok. Oh, and do not expect something like customer service at these prices... Cheers, Chris Quote
