leeyah Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:59 AM Report Share Posted November 8, 2009 at 10:59 AM Nothing unusual about the text, just ignore the latin letters. It happens with encoding occasionally. chrix Posted November 8, 2009 at 01:00 PM Report Share Posted November 8, 2009 at 01:00 PM 縣: not province, county Since Taichung is a county-level city, 外縣市 probably refers to areas that are neither in Taichung City nor Taichung County. Same reason they refer to Taichung 地區: including both city and county. (for most intents and purposes, for Taiwan place names one should follow the romanisation scheme in place locally. Even though the Taiwan government has introduced the use of hanyu pinyin, this does not necessarily cover the big cities such as Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung)
