jngai Posted November 8, 2009 at 05:15 PM Report Posted November 8, 2009 at 05:15 PM Living in China for less than a year (June/July), with no English degree as I'm a student still.. What would my chances be of getting a job? I'm native English, I can get by with my Chinese, I've learned it for a bit more than a year. Would there be any path other than to teach English? I know a classmate who managed to get a job in a pub/bar who has the same level of Chinese as me. What would be the best way to go about it? Many thanks, Quote
roddy Posted November 8, 2009 at 06:43 PM Report Posted November 8, 2009 at 06:43 PM How are you off for visas and accommodation? With no degree or (I presume) experience, you're unlikely to walk into a full job package, but it shouldn't be too hard to pick up ad hoc teaching work from private schools. Other than that you might be able to find something like proofreading, helping a firm communicate with overseas clients, etc. I'd be surprised (but interested) if your friend's bar tending job actually paid any real money. jngai Posted November 9, 2009 at 01:45 PM Author Report Posted November 9, 2009 at 01:45 PM Visa-wise I'm sorted until June. I'm thinking of just part-time work. My friend earns very little, less than 50Y for a whole evening but I'm sure it is doing wonders for her Chinese. Quote
