Hello everyone.

I have a , some would say, very strange request that I hope someone can help me with. I like to listen to all sorts of stuff (one of my favourites being yodels!), and would like some pointers to Chinese music.

Who should I search for on the internet if I want to listen to the sort of stuff that is background music in Chinese restaurants? I don't want to search for Chinese hip-hop or metal or things like that.

I like to listen to traditional music too - so what/who should I search for?

Welcome to the place where strange has ceased to exist ;) There's a lot of music here, have a look. As for the more traditional music, look for instruments such as the guqin on YouTube. I am sure some members who are more knowledgeable about traditional music will be able to give you some names, too

If you like traditional music,you can try "高山流水、十面埋伏、紫竹调"

Yeah, looking for traditional instruments such as guqin, pipa or erhu might help.

Also, you might look into Tan Dun, he wrote the soundtrack for a number of big movies, like "Hero".

Thanks everyone. I'll have a plod through the "song of the day" thread and see what's there. I've seen some stuff on e-bay but unfortunately there is no option to listen to anything and the chinese amazon site - well, it's in Chinese and I can't read that!
