chrix Posted January 23, 2010 at 05:43 PM Author Report Posted January 23, 2010 at 05:43 PM Now, the only question I have about this text is: does anyone have any clue how the king of Chu could possibly see 知罃's reply as a reward? Perhaps because this will set an example for the inhabitants of Chu that they should always remain loyal to their king? I'm not sure if he saw the reply as a reward... Well, this text again has several question one could ask that instructor of yours in Leiden: - first, do we know what happened to 知罃 after he got sent back? Was he put to death or was he spared? - second, I've come across several allusions in the Zuozhuan that a freed captive told the captor that they are happy being sent back home to be executed. But yet I haven't seen any concrete case where they really were executed. Maybe this had already become some kind of "diplomatic language" as well? Quote

OneEye Posted September 29, 2014 at 09:04 AM Report Posted September 29, 2014 at 09:04 AM Well, since chrix hasn't posted here in well over three years, I think it's safe to say he won't be responding. I don't think posting copyrighted material is allowed on this forum, but I could be wrong. You can buy it here for under US$3 (plus shipping). Quote
