Hi All,

I have been living here in Chengdu, Sichuan, China from last 6months. I am living here on company expense. My company is paying me on daily basis. I have a company provided Citibank world money Visa card. I use to reload the card on monthly basis.

Now the time is to return and now i have more than 60,000RMB as a saving:-). I have two options, either i withdraw money from my card in RMB or let it be in the card and en cash the card back in India. But the Citibank rate is not competitive.

Please suggest me how can i carry the money back if i withdraw money. I already withdrew 30000RMB:-)

Thanks in advance,

Amit

Use either Western Union or 邮政储蓄银行 to wire the money home. Western Union would be easier and English-friendly, while the bank will have a lower commission.

Thanks David,

Do the western Union accept money in RMB ? And in which currency they will transfer back to india (in rupees)? What documents they require for the processing?

Thanks again.

Regards,

Amit

Hi,

I think i ll have to convert RMB into dollars and then transfer the dollars either by western union or by moneygram.

I am thinking of options like

- take 20000-30000RMB cash with me on the flight.

- convert rest of the money to dollars

- Transfer that dollars by moneygram/western union or take the dollar with me in the flight

Please suggest,

Regards,

Amit

Take a Chinese friend with you to the bank and have them transfer it to your bank a/c in your home country. Simple and relatively painless.

If you're doing that though, I'd suggest you do it early - if there's any problem it's possible the money will get sent back from India, and if you aren't in China to deal with it . . .
