Daan Posted November 19, 2009 at 08:12 AM Report Share Posted November 19, 2009 at 08:12 AM Thought I'd share this article on the recently announced donation of a batch of Western Han bamboo strips to Peking University. As you can read, there's a lot of new material in those strips, including the most complete version of the Daodejing so far, previously unknown 小説 and historical works, as well as works that had been thought lost since the Song dynasty. There's also exciting texts on Chinese medicine and natural science. Finally, in keeping with the general subject here these days, it's also interesting to note that there are chapters on Zhou history that seem to contradict later historiography. There are, however, apparently some doubts as to the authenticity of the strips. But if they're real, they mark another important milestone in the study of ancient China.
