Understudy Posted November 21, 2009 at 01:34 AM Report Posted November 21, 2009 at 01:34 AM Hey all, I will be headed off to China in about a month, and I suspect that there is a possibility that I will be meeting Chinese local government officials as well as diplomats, and am looking for advice/suggestions for formal introductions, especially if there is anything I should particularly pay attention to in meeting with such a person. I always look to make a good impression, but under these particular circumstances it will be particularly important. Any advice is welcomed! Quote
chrix Posted November 21, 2009 at 01:46 AM Report Posted November 21, 2009 at 01:46 AM I've wanted to use "久仰大名" or “久闻大名,如雷贯耳”, and I've always imagined a situation like you describe in your post . I think you must have actually heard of the person before to use this, "I've heard so much about you, ambassador, and finally we meet in person" Quote
New Members sofiaw Posted November 23, 2009 at 02:09 PM New Members Report Posted November 23, 2009 at 02:09 PM I think giving greeting such as "久仰" with an obeisance by cupping one hand in the other before chest (拱手致敬) should be much more impressive than just shaking hands with them. Quote
