renzhe Posted November 23, 2009 at 12:03 PM Report Posted November 23, 2009 at 12:03 PM IMDB - wikipedia A psychological thriller by the makers of Infernal Affairs. We haven't had a discussion on this movie, other than a short notice that Leonardo DiCaprio would star in the remake (what happened with the remake, btw?) The movie is a mix of a psychological thriller and film noir, with the night scenes in Hong Kong reminding me of Michael Mann's "Collateral". It has a truly star-studded cast, with Tony Leung, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Shu Qi and Xu Jinglei. I enjoyed it quite a lot. The intrigue is not really strong because most of it is revealed early, but you're still stuck trying to understand the motives until the end of the movie. But the movie is very stylishly made, very nice editing, great camerawork, and a very unusual and refreshing musical score. Some surreal artistic touches too. These made it worth watching for me. The story is a bit difficult to follow, as it is told in a non-chronological order with many flashbacks. Still, the language is not too hard. Has anyone else seen this? Quote
