English equivalent of 休息是為了走更長遠的路

A friend asked me the translation of '休息是為了走更長遠的路' but I thought the literal translation would be a bit awkward. I'd like to know if there's an English equivalent. Thank you very much for your help.

It sounds familiar but I can't recall something similar in English, so I've made up a sentence, similar in spirit, and hope that it'd help to jog someone else's memory for an existing, better translation: "a rest is only the first step of a longer journey ahead",

or: "a rest is a preparatory step for a longer journey ahead"

Yeah, the only two sayings that spring to mind are "The longest journey starts with a single step" and "Calm before the storm", but neither really fits in this case.
