When you wrote "garden shop", did you mean "florist"? Because that's 花店 in Chinese. Otherwise, I don't know how to translate "garden shop". Sorry.

I think the sentence should be something like this:

我们本来打算要去花店的, 但是由于我的学校作业太多, 把这件事儿给忘了. 真是不好意思. 不过我们很快就会去的.
